Up there in Non-Valley it seems that the time has stopped…………
When “La Ciaspolada” take place on the day of the Epiphany (6th of January), on this day people celebrate and renew uses and traditions handed down from generations to generations. |
It is a memory of the past, when the snow-shoes were the only means of transport between a “maso” (a farm house in the mountain) and an other. Today those snow-shoes return for recreate the atmosphere of remote times; when the phenomenon of mass tourism did not succeed in devouring all with the rhythms and the frenzy that today countersign the city life. A type of tourism that does not seem to take into consideration the environment, that when respected gives precious and more and more rare gifts. A type of tourism that would like to try to impose its own rhythms and its own demands to people that for a long time have lived a life marked by the seasons and by the time. |
And that's why “La ciaspolada” is an unusual phenomenon. It is because it allows us, at least for one day, to return to the past, to the traditions now lost, to moments of forgotten life. To taste therefore the perfume and the warmth of the things and the simple habits, the lovely scenery where nature rejoices and become protagonists, of a history that they live again thanks to the enthusiasm of the friends of the Società Podistica Novella. |

Would you like to know the history of............................Once up on a time............
There was Alessandro Bertagnolli and some snow-shoes. The history of “La Ciaspolada” of the Non-Valley could start on this way. The idea of a competition with the snow-shoes was born one day in when the present manager of the Tourist Promotion of the Non-Valley has observed hunters in the wood, who were walking quickly with their snow-shoes on the snow in the area of Tret. They were there to feed the hungry animals of the forest. It happened in 1972, more than thirty years ago. |
The following January Bertagnolli and some collaborators of the Società Podistica Novella launched the challenge, almost on the quiet with few snow-shoes. “La ciaspolada” started, itbecame later the “queen” of the winter competitions in Trentino. That also was due to the number of competitors coming from all over the world. |
