Inimitable La Ciaspolada in Trentino
Snowshoes (snow rackets in the local dialect) has a long tradition in
Trentino. In the past it was used by hunters and farmers to move around easily on the snow without sinking into it. Today their use has been rediscovered because they are a fantastic way to enjoy the mountains in the winter.
In Trentino there are many La Ciaspolada paths and there has been an increase in events of this kind, but
the one and only La Ciaspolada event is held in
Val di Non.

Since 1973, winter in Val di Non, in
Trentino, rhymes with
La Ciaspolada.
The snowshoe, snow racket race, has been held every year from more then 50 years at the beginning of January. La Ciaspolada is divided into two sections: a competitive race for athletes, and a fun race for anyone who wants to spend funny time on the snow.
Every year the route is different depending on the snow fall. This is the reason the route of
La Ciaspolada will be decided a few days before the race. The route is around 7 km long and is mainly over flat terrain with slight climbs.
La Ciaspolada: everything you need to know
It takes place in the first days of January and, with the exception of 2020, it has always taken place at 10.30 in the morning. Do not miss the opportunity to participate in this extraordinary and magical sporting event in 2025. Breath-taking scenery surrounded by woods, meadows and the villages of Val di Non will guide you along the La Ciaspolada route.
La Ciaspolada in Trentino: how to take part
To take part in La Ciaspolada it is necessary to register. There are two registration methods this year: you can download the form which you must print out or it is possible to
register directly online. The deadline is set for 4 January 2025 at 6.00pm, but we remind you that from Tuesday 1 January the registration fee will increase by € 5,00 per person. Don’t have any snowshoes? No problem you can hire them from us and that’s not all! If you are staying a in a Friends of La Ciaspolada hotel we will deliver your registration directly there, snowshoes included!
